The process to become a board approved licensed therapist takes years to complete!

Heather is in her final year of her graduate program and is completing the 600+ hour clinical practicum requirement that focuses on diagnostic, prevention, and treatment services.

Upon graduation, Heather will apply for approval by the state board to engage in supervised clinical experience toward the 3,000 hours that are required for her to be eligible to take the board exam.  In the meantime, Heather is closely supervised by independently licensed therapists.

Currently, Heather is supervised by Teanna Diggs, LCSW-C, LCSW.

Hi, I'm Heather! I have an undergraduate degree in Psychology and am currently in the final stages of achieving a Master's Degree in Social Work from George Mason University. It has been a longstanding dream of mine to become a licensed counselor.

I am the mother of 4 children, all of whom have presented their own unique gifts and challenges. I always knew I wanted to be a mom, yet I was surprised at every turn by how little the real experience reflected my previous idea of what motherhood would be like. I was also completely unprepared for the toll this role would take on my identity and was amazed by how different the experience felt after the birth of each of my children. Juggling this role of mom, with other responsibilities like wife, daughter, sister, friend, or wage-earner, often leaves little time for us to reflect on our own needs, yet finding a way to do that is so important. I am excited to offer myself as a kind, patient, and non-judgmental sounding board, with over 20 years of experience in my own personal journey of pregnancy and motherhood. As an intern at Postpartum Wellness, I am fully supported by an excellent team and directly supervised by Teanna Diggs, LCSW-C to help ensure that your needs are matched with an effective therapeutic approach.
