Helen Her, LCSW, PMH-C
Entering a new season in life can be exciting, but at times may feel overwhelming and lonely. And a woman's transition into a new season is no exception, whether it is her first time motherhood, second pregnancy loss, or a third embryo transfer, it may undeniably be one of the toughest seasons of a woman's life.
I am a Clinical Therapist licensed in Virginia, Washington, DC, and Florida and I specialize working with women with Perinatal Mood & Anxiety Disorders (PMADs). I received advanced mental health training and hold an active perinatal mental health certification from Postpartum Support International. As a mother myself, I am passionate about working with women's mental health and the various challenges women are faced with.
I believe therapy is part art and part science. I strive to use evidence based treatments to offer appropriate framework but mold and color the way it best suits my clients' needs. In my clinical practice, I use modalities of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Interpersonal Psychotherapy, Trauma Focused Narrative Therapy, and techniques from Dialectical Behavioral Therapy to achieve clients' clinical needs.
I consider it a privilege to hear your story and work with you. I will collaborate with you, hold up a mirror for you at times for you to regain your inner strength, and hold a safe and warm space for you to process your experience. I look forward to working with you.
What Clients Are Saying
“...I worked with Helen for 12 months after the birth of my first child.
Helen is the best therapist I have ever had. She gave me so many new tools to manage the stress of being a working new mother. It was life changing therapy.
We finished our therapy in November 2023 and I did not want to let her skill and abilities go upraised.
Thank you for having someone like Helen on your team”

“...She took the time to understand what approaches helped me the most and incorporated those into my care. She helped me go from questioning if I was equipped to be a mother to feeling like I am a capable and wonderful mom.
She was also so flexible when my schedule got complicated when I returned to work and made sure my care could continue which I greatly appreciated...”
