The transition to motherhood can be both wonderful and frightening, with so many changes and new emotions, from worries and intrusive thoughts, to sleep deprivation, to relationship and career changes. As a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, I have been helping women navigate these waters for 20 years.
Transitioning into motherhood while doing this work helped to deepen and strengthen my understanding of how women and families come to find a new sense of equilibrium and balance in their worlds after the birth of a child. I also provide grief work for those experiencing the profound sadness of pregnancy and infant loss.
I utilize a strengths-based approach combined with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Supportive Therapy, and Psychoeducation to help you adapt to this major life transition. So often women become isolated at home, feeling uncertain if what they are experiencing is normal, and are afraid to ask. Rest assured, asking for help is your biggest superpower! No parent should ever feel alone in making this transition.
Let’s work together as a team in a nurturing space to set the goals you would like to accomplish. There is no way to be a perfect mother, but there are many paths to being a good one. I look forward to speaking with you!
