The process to become a board approved licensed therapist takes years to complete!
Samantha is in her final year of her graduate program and is completing the 600+ hour clinical practicum requirement that focuses on diagnostic, prevention, and treatment services.
Upon graduation, Samantha will apply for approval by the state board to engage in supervised clinical experience toward the 3,000 hours that are required for her to be eligible to take the board exam. In the meantime, Samantha is closely supervised by independently licensed therapists.
Preparing for a new baby and becoming a parent is an enormous transition that multiplies the challenges we face in daily life. It’s not uncommon for menial tasks and errands to feel completely overwhelming during this time.
I’m Samantha, and I’m working towards my master’s in social work at George Mason University. A decade after having my first child, I look back at the stress of these times and wish I had given myself the empathy I regularly employ with others. My goal is to aid in supporting new mothers, children, and families through the many challenges associated with mental health, pregnancy, and growing a family. I hope you can seek out the professional support you need during this vulnerable time. Every individual has unique experiences and environments that influence their transition as a mother. I will always strive to welcome you in a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental environment.
