Couples Therapy In Pennsylvania

We Thought We Were On The Same Page With Parenthood.  We Couldn’t Wait To Meet Our Baby.  Why Are We Drifting Further Apart From One Another?  This Isn’t How We Pictured Parenthood With The One We Love.

Do Not Lose Hope!

Becoming parents is one of life’s most difficult events.  Not only are you trying to figure out your own individual role, but you’re also trying to figure out how to work as a team.  And, if you happen to be a sports fanatic, then you know that building team camaraderie is tough!

You and your partner deserve to be happy again and we are here to help.

What does couples counseling
look like at Postpartum Wellness?

Your counselor will listen to your parenting experiences and how they have changed your relationship. Then, you and your counselor will practice communication techniques that you will try at home. We have found that the conflicts between mothers and their partners frequently center around:

  • Parenting Styles
  • Division of Housework
  • Finances
  • Trust
  • Individual areas of concern

You and your partner will soon achieve:

  • Reduced Conflict
  • Improved Communication
  • Increased Intimacy and Connection
  • Dreaming Together

couples-counseling-near-mePostpartum Wellness provides expert couples counseling during or after childbirth for Pennsylvania families because we understand that a baby changes everything.

Our premier services are designed to incorporate the latest research while offering relational, compassionate and solution-focused treatment.  You and your therapist will meet every week for 55-minute sessions.  Couples counseling is done best with at least an 8-week commitment.  We have found that couples who cannot commit to at least 8 weekly sessions and meet less than weekly tend to have more difficulty in improving their relationship.  After 8 weekly sessions, you and your therapist can discuss the reduction of your sessions to biweekly or monthly.

Each session is completely confidential and held on a secure HIPAA-compliant online platform.

The initial session is called the “intake interview,” which involves a thorough review of your life story and current situation. This allows us to accurately pinpoint the problems and collaborate on a plan moving forward. From there, we meet for regular couples therapy sessions – which is where the real work begins.

As you begin couples counseling, you will learn to:

  • Break free from the resentment
  • Relax and sleep well
  • Build connections with each other and love for your child(ren)
  • Communicate better to ensure your needs are met
  • Feel confident and have self-control
  • Think positively and understand your emotions
  • Find wellness and joy

We call our practice Postpartum Wellness for a reason.

family counseling in pittsburgh philadelphia allentown hershey pennsylvaniaWe started this practice because we are passionate about providing a safe and caring space for new parents to process their pregnancy and postpartum experiences. The silent struggle that many couples experience impact their relationships with self, partner, friends, family, colleagues, and the rest of society. The shame and stigma around pregnancy and postpartum stress needs to be recognized – and we want to be part of that change.

While counseling is certainly a commitment of resources, it is often worth the investment.

Anyone who has completed a successful course of therapy can confidently attest to its value. But, “Why is therapy a good idea? What does it accomplish?” Our PA therapist, Constance Parker, at Postpartum Wellness will arm you with new tools to help you avoid emotional roller coasters. The beauty of therapy is learning how to live life in new and healthy ways that protect your mental state.

How Will You Pay For Couples Counseling?

Therapy requires commitment, time, emotional vulnerability, and financial resources.

Constance Parker accepts Cigna/Evernorth and Optum/United Healthcare.

If you have other insurance or prefer to waive your health insurance, an initial session cost $190 (90-minutes) and each follow-up session costs $165 (55-minutes).
